LSM Welcomes New Staff Member

Shine Santos joined the Leadership Southern Maryland (LSM) staff as the program administrator for the LSM Emerging Leaders Program (LEAP) in August 2021. She recently earned her master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan. Santos received her bachelor’s degree in tourism management from the University of the Philippines - Diliman in 2016.

Santos started her corporate career right after college, working in the field of sales and marketing for a five-star hotel chain in Asia. She continued in the same field, working for a multinational FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) company as a customer development executive, handling key accounts and promoting product brands. Santos is passionate about education and community service, having been involved in a nonprofit intercultural exchange organization for over seven years where she had the chance to work with different communities, promoting the importance of education and intercultural learning.

Santos spends her free time running and is hoping to complete her third full marathon within the next few years. She also enjoys playing touch rugby and was a former member of the Philippine National Women’s Touch Rugby team that represented the Philippines in the Touch World Cup in Australia in 2015.

LSM Supports Area Nonprofits

The Class of 2022 Executive Program participants are teaming up with area nonprofits during the 2021-22 program year.  Class members will each donate 25 hours of their time and talents in support of local organizations including ARC of Southern Maryland, Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center, and KidSTREAM.

Leadership Southern Maryland partners with the College of Southern Maryland's Nonprofit Institute to identify nonprofit partners each program year.  Class members are matched with local organizations based on their preferences and strengths.
