Introducing LSM's Executive Program Class of 2021 The Leadership Southern Maryland (LSM) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the selection of 28 Southern Maryland leaders for its 13th Executive Program class - the Class of 2021. The class kicked off its program experience with Orientation on September 14 and 15 at Holiday Inn Solomons.

LSM Emerging Leaders Program (LEAP) Class of 2020 Explores Ethics and Stewardship in Southern Maryland On August 21, 2020, Leadership Southern Maryland's new Emerging Leaders Program (LEAP) Class of 2020 held its fourth of six program sessions.
This first hybrid program day (half in-person, half virtual) began with a meeting at Historic Sotterley Plantation. There was a tour of the grounds with Sotterley’s Education Coordinator, Katherine Humphries. This was followed by a panel discussion on nonprofit stewardship and responsibilities with Nancy Easterling LSM’12, executive director, Historic Sotterley; Robin Finnacom ‘FS, St. Mary’s County coordinator, Nonprofit Institute at the College of Southern Maryland; and Denise Foster, executive director, Leadership Southern Maryland. The panel provided insights into their definition of stewardship and what it takes to be a leader in a nonprofit organization, as well as the nonprofit sector’s unique challenges. The class then received an overview on ethics from RADM Bert Johnston ‘FS, USN, (Ret.).
After lunch, the group met virtually for the remainder of the day. It began with Amy Ford LSM’19, branch manager, Lexington Park, St. Mary’s County Library, who led a discussion on authentic leadership using Discover Your True North by Bill George as a guide. The day ended with a panel discussion on civic engagement and servant leadership with St. Mary's County Commissioner Eric Colvin and St. Mary's County Delegate Brian Crosby. ![]()
LSM Homecoming 2020 ![]() Save the Date for LSM's Virtual Homecoming Happy Hour - October 1, 2020 at 5pm. A zoom link will be provided. Stay tuned for details on the event to not only welcome the Class of 2021 but to kick off an "LSM Gives Back Class Challenge."
LEAP Application Deadline Extension Great news! We have extended the Emerging Leaders Program (LEAP) application deadline to September 25. There is still time to reach out to those you think will be interested in our program. Even though our official information sessions have ended, interested individuals can schedule a call with us to go over the program and the application process.
