Coming Soon - Join LSMAA
Keep an eye out for LSM's Alumni Appeal! The letter will be hitting mailboxes in the next couple of weeks. As is our annual custom, we ask your help to make Leadership Southern Maryland programs possible for future leaders by joining the Leadership Southern Maryland Alumni Association (LSMAA). You may also add an additional contribution designated for the LSM scholarship fund.
Remember, if you joined LSMAA last year and paid via credit card, your dues will automatically renew on June 30.

Leadership Southern Maryland Committed to Diversity and Social Justice
Due to the recent events, protests, and calls for social justice and racial equality sweeping across the country, we felt it was important that Leadership Southern Maryland address these issues.
Our alumni and leadership team are composed of a cross-section of diverse individuals from different backgrounds, professions, ethnicities, ages, genders, sexual orientations, and religions. As an organization of community leaders across Southern Maryland, LSM is proud to be at the forefront of such topics and conversations.
“Diversity, inclusion, social justice, and equality are not buzzwords for our organization,” said Denise Foster, executive director for LSM. She continued, “Addressing these topics are core to the mission of LSM. Program participants come together one day a month to learn about a specific topic, and Diversity Day is one of the most anticipated.”
Founder and CEO Emeritus, Strathmore, Eliot Pfanstiehl also weighed in on the impact of and need for community leadership. “There has never been a time in the history of our nation when this topic had more urgency and relevancy.” He offered advice for future LSM program participants. “There will be no agenda other than your own questions, beliefs and hopes. You will build the day from whatever is meaningful to you and your classmates. You will be amazed,” he said.
Throughout its 11-year history, LSM has been committed to improving and enhancing opportunities for diversity and inclusion across Southern Maryland. As the nation navigates through these historic times, LSM will continue to lead the way and serve as a shining beacon of hope and light for all residents of Southern Maryland.

LSM Grads - Making an Impact
The LSM family is committed to supporting our Southern Maryland communities during the COVID-19 crisis. Pulling together our networks and resources to help organizations in the region during this unprecedented time is what LSM is all about!
This month, LSM would like to recognize Jennifer Normyle LSM'16. Jennifer has made and donated over 270 cloth masks over the last several weeks. In addition, she assisted her church in processing the paperwork necessary to apply for the payroll protection loan.

Congratulations! NAVAIR SBIR Program Manager Donna Attick LSM'19, SBIR Technology Acceleration Lead Becky Clements LEAP'20, and SBIR Team Member Danielle Moulds LEAP'20 recently celebrated the successful completion of the accelerated SBIR Phase I evaluations.

Show Your LSM Love
Update your wardrobe, show your LSM love, and donate to the organization all at the same time!
LSM has joined Here For Good with MOSD LLC, Wear Your Spirit Warehouse and now has LSM apparel available. There are several options including ladies fit, youth, pullover hoodie, and a 20 oz stainless tumbler.
LSM will receive $10 for every item sold.

LEAP Nominations Open!
LSM is excited to announce that it is moving into the second year of its Emerging Leaders Program (LEAP)! LEAP provides educational programming opportunities to new or emerging leaders in our region. Through a series of six “experiences”, young leaders will facilitate, foster, and refine their individual leadership understanding and abilities via structured course curriculum and a focus on self-discovery, teamwork, and networking. The program is set to run from January through June, 2021.
