INTRODUCING PROFESSIONAL SERVICES HUB

The Nonprofit Institute at CSM and Leadership Southern Maryland introduce the Professional Services Hub, a pro bono program connecting Southern Maryland nonprofit organizations with professional counsel from Leadership Southern Maryland alumni.

The Professional Services Hub offers basic legal, accounting/financial, and insurance-related insight and answers at no initial charge. Several Leadership Southern Maryland alumni have agreed to offer their knowledge and expertise to local nonprofit organizations who may need some general advice and assistance.

Interested nonprofit organizations may contact the Nonprofit Institute at nonprofit@csmd.edu.

NONPROFIT PROJECT PROPOSALS SELECTED

Leadership Southern Maryland's programs committee solicited proposals from nonprofit organizations within Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's counties to provide projects to be completed by the LSM Class of 2019. Of eleven proposals submitted, seven were selected for this year's class. The projects are these:

  • The ARC Southern Maryland: Assist in improving ARC's development results specifically with regards to
    donor communication and fundraising.
  • Calvert Nature Society: Assist in developing an implementation plan for the society’s Healthy Calvert….Naturally! outreach project.
  • End Hunger in Calvert County (EDCC): Assist in developing a marketing plan promoting The Lobby Coffee Bar and Café as a meeting/training center for local businesses.
  • Girls on the Run Southern Maryland: Assist in developing a marketing plan to help in the expansion and awareness of our programs in St. Mary’s County, specifically in the public schools.
  • Leadership Southern Maryland: Assist in developing a detailed program plan for the launch of an Emerging Leader Program that would cater not only to the specific educational needs and talents of a new professional in the 25-34 age demographic, but also to professionals beginning second careers later in life.
  • Pax River Naval Air Museum Association (PRNAMA): Assist in developing a phased implementation plan to address the changes (in events, community engagement, exhibits, facilities updates, etc.) required to attract the “families with small children” demographic and to increase the family-friendliness of the museum.
  • St. Mary's Animal Welfare League (SMAWL): Assist in creating a plan for board development to include not only an increase in the number of directors but also to add to the skills base of the board to allow for greater outreach and broader programs.

This partnership, Leadership Southern Maryland Connections, will aid the participants' learning by increasing their knowledge of regional issues, lend the nonprofit extra expertise and manpower to complete a needed project, and allow for team building within a small group.
